Municipal Assembly Inspects Ongoing Development Projects Across the Ayawaso East Municipal

As part of its commitment to community development, quality service delivery, and effective oversight, the Municipal Assembly has undertaken an inspection of ongoing development projects across the Municipality.

The inspection exercise was led by the Presiding Member, Hon. Abdul Razak Ismail, together with Assembly Members, who visited a number of project sites to assess progress, identify challenges, and ensure that development works are being executed to the required standards.

The team inspected 10 ongoing and completed development projects across various communities. While all the projects could not be listed individually, the inspection covered key areas including education, sanitation, roads, drainage, sports infrastructure, and other community development initiatives.

Flagstaff House School

The first stop was at Flagstaff House School, where the team inspected the construction of a three-storey, 12-unit classroom block. The team also inspected newly constructed toilet facilities for students, aimed at improving sanitation and providing a more conducive learning environment.

Nima Cluster of Schools

The inspection team subsequently visited the Nima Cluster of Schools, where ongoing development works are being undertaken to improve teaching and learning conditions.

The classrooms have undergone extensive renovation, addressing challenges such as roof leakages that had previously affected some of the facilities. New toilet facilities have also been constructed to provide students with improved, safer, and more hygienic amenities.

Nima Roundabout and Drainage Works

At the Nima Roundabout, the team inspected ongoing development works as part of efforts to improve infrastructure within the Municipality.

The inspection also covered the construction of a U-drain at the Hot Coffee Electoral Area, which forms part of measures to improve drainage and address related community infrastructure needs.

Kanda AstroTurf and Overpass

The team also inspected the Kanda AstroTurf, assessing progress on the development of the sports facility and its potential to provide improved recreational opportunities for residents, particularly the youth.

Another key area inspected was the Kanda Overpass, where the team assessed ongoing works and their progress.

The inspection further covered ongoing road projects across the Municipality, alongside other development initiatives being implemented in various communities.

Strengthening Oversight and Accountability

The inspection exercise forms part of the Municipal Assembly’s broader responsibility to monitor development projects and ensure that public resources are translated into quality infrastructure and services for residents.

Speaking during the exercise, the Presiding Member, Hon. Abdul Razak Ismail, emphasized the importance of regular monitoring and effective oversight to ensure that projects are delivered to the expected standards and provide the intended benefits to the communities.

With 10 projects inspected during the exercise, the Municipal Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that development initiatives across the Municipality are properly monitored and aligned with the needs of residents.

The Assembly will continue to undertake such inspection exercises as part of its commitment to accountability, effective project monitoring, and sustainable community development.
